Ductwork Installation & Replacement
Our team performs new ductwork design and other ductwork services, including installations and additions. We design and install ducts for new construction and existing homes that didn’t previously have them.
We can help you expand ductwork to reach:
- Finished attics
- Home additions
- Finished garages
- Finished basements
Our team can perform full and partial replacements for homes with existing ducts. Ductwork can often last as long as 25 years with proper maintenance. Beyond that point, it’s usually best to replace it rather than continue repairing it. Sometimes, it may be necessary to replace ducts as early as 15 years if the system is in poor condition.
Ductwork Repairs
All ducts experience wear and tear through normal operation. There are many reasons why ducts are crucial for your HVAC system, and our duct repairs will help ensure there are no those issues the could become more serious. Common repairs include tightening mounting hardware and replacing insulation. Our team can also replace individual duct panels and even duct sections as necessary.
Our duct repairs include:
Ductwork Maintenance
Regular ductwork services are important to ensure a well-functioning and quiet HVAC system. We recommend that the average household schedule a duct camera inspection every two years. Seasonal tune-ups don’t generally include a duct camera inspection, but you can usually schedule them at the same time.
An inspection may reveal that you need ductwork repairs. It may also reveal that you need duct cleaning. Dust and other debris build up in ducts over time. It can undermine air quality and eventually affect airflow. Although uncommon, there’s a risk of moisture, mildew, mold, and pest infestations. Industrial-grade vacuuming will remove all that debris. Our team can also sanitize your ducts to eliminate any health concerns.
Our duct maintenance services include:
- Duct sealing
- Air balancing
- Camera inspections
- Duct and vent cleaning
Duct Sealing
The Department of Energy estimates that ducts in the average house can leak as much as 40% of the conditioned air. Air leakage undermines comfort and energy efficiency, thereby increasing your heating and cooling costs.
It puts additional strain on the equipment because it has to run for longer periods. Leakage also allows for an exchange of air that introduces air pollution. Consider that the air in your attic is often humid and has elevated particulate levels.
Recognizing the problem, the Environmental Protection Agency funded research into a solution. That solution is a non-toxic aerosol that our technicians can spray into your ducts. It seals the gaps between duct sections, flaws in duct panels, and other imperfections.
Aerosol-based duct sealing will reduce leakage to less than 5%. In some cases, you may need other forms of duct sealing as well, including duct tape and mastic sealant.
We offer multiple approaches to duct sealing:
- Mastic sealant
- Aerosol-based sealing
Common Duct Issues in Older Princeton Homes
Duct design has evolved greatly over the years. Our team may find that the original installer improperly designed your ducts. There may also be inadequate or deteriorated duct insulation, which we can diagnose with a thorough home energy audit or inspection.
Ducts can also sag over time and put additional strain on the mounting hardware. Mounting hardware can fail outright, and duct panels and other components can deteriorate over time. Ducts can also accumulate debris, which can affect both airflow and air quality.
